How to add a custom mob to Minecraft Bedrock on iPad

On an iPad, open the .mcaddon file and Minecraft Bedrock imports the mob. If Safari saved it to Files instead, open Files, go to Downloads and tap the file. Then switch the mob’s behaviour and resource packs on in your world’s settings, and find its spawn egg in the creative inventory.

The steps

  1. Open Minecraft once first. If Minecraft Bedrock has never been opened on the iPad, nothing is set up to open the file yet. Launch the game once, then come back.
  2. Make the file. In Mobloom, go to the Minecraft tab and tap the big button. Mobloom makes the .mcaddon file for your creature.
  3. Open the file. Open the downloaded file on the same iPad and Minecraft imports it. If Safari saved it to Files instead, open Files, go to Downloads and tap the file there.
  4. Switch the packs on. In a new world the creature is usually on already. In an existing world, open the world’s settings and turn the pack on under Behaviour Packs and Resource Packs.
  5. Find the spawn egg. The creature’s spawn egg is in the creative inventory. Search the inventory for the name you gave it, then place the egg.

Questions

Why does nothing happen when I open the file?

Open Minecraft first. If Minecraft has never been opened on that device, nothing is registered to handle the file yet. Launch the game once, then open the file again.

Where is my creature in the game?

Its spawn egg is in the creative inventory. Search the inventory for the name you gave it. In an existing world, turn its pack on under Behaviour Packs and Resource Packs first.

Does this work with Minecraft Java Edition?

No. Mobloom exports .mcaddon files for Minecraft Bedrock Edition only.
